Old pair of Sindhi silver poppy bud earrings from southern Pakistan.  This style of earring, with a small protrusion at the bottom representing a poppy bud, have been worn for centuries.  Made from good tribal silver for a nice addition to your tribal dowry.  Wires are fairly thick, perhaps an 8 to 10 gauge.  Tribal silver wire is shaped into a hoop with a with hook and eye to close.  About 1.75 inches across and 2.5 inches top to bottom, including poppy bud.

These earrings are old, tribally used pieces.  If you will be wearing these in piercings without the protection of tunnels, please make sure the wires are clean before wearing.

Sindhis are native to the Sindh province of Pakistan, which was previously a part of pre-partition British India. After the partition of India in 1947, most Sindhi Hindus and Sindhi Sikhs migrated to India and other parts of the world. Today, Sindhis are both in India and Pakistan. Indian Sindhis are predominantly Hindu, while Pakistani Sindhis are predominantly Muslim.
