Pair of Vintage Turkman gul yaka, or 'throat flower' pendants.  Vintage tribal pendants feature fire gilding, red glass jewels and hollow dangles.  Etched design on traditional "flower" design pendants.  These also appear to have a "coffee bean" motif!  About 2.75 inches across and 6 inches long (including dangles) with two bales on on the back of each pendant, making these something like a large button.  Large hollow drops at the end of chains make that distinctive jingle that is unique to Turkoman jewelry.  These would make wonderful additions to a tribal belly dance DIY headpiece or could easily be used on a bra or belt to add beautiful detailing.  These pendants are somewhat tarnished.

This listing is for a PAIR as shown.

The Turkoman are an ethnic group native to Central Asia, primarily the Turkmen nation state of Turkmenistan. Smaller communities are also found in Iran, Afghanistan, North Caucasus (Stavropol Krai), and northern Pakistan.  The major Turkmen tribes are Teke, Yomut, Ersari, Chowdur and Saryk. The most numerous are the Teke.  The Turkmen lifestyle was heavily invested in horsemanship and horse-breeding.  In spite of changes prompted by the Soviet period, the Turkoman people have remained very well known for their horses, the Akhal-Teke desert horse and also for their unique and beautiful jewelry traditions.  Turkomen Central Asian silver jewelry is some of the finest and most sought-after in the world.
