Pair of metal Turkoman style tassels with stamped dangles.  These tassels feature Turkoman style tassel caps and beads with twisted wire detailing.  These do not have bells, but the dangles make a nice jingle.  Nice larger sized tassels are between 16 and 17 inches long.  Lovely as home decor items as well, or take them apart and use the strands anywhere.

Turkoman peoples use tassels in their homes, on their clothing/accessories and on their animals.  Traditionally they are used to distract the evil eye and keep evil spirits from focusing on the human or animals that are wearing them.  Added bonus:  they are beautiful!

In spite of changes prompted by the Soviet period, the Turkmen have remained very well known for their horses, the Akhal-Teke desert horse and also for their unique and beautiful jewelry traditions. The Turkoman are an ethnic group native to Central Asia, primarily the Turkmen nation state of Turkmenistan. Smaller communities are also found in Iran, Afghanistan, North Caucasus (Stavropol Krai), and northern Pakistan. The major Turkmen tribes are Tekke, Yomut, Ersari, Chowdur and Saryk. The most numerous are the Tekke. The Turkmen lifestyle was heavily invested in horsemanship and horse-breeding. In spite of changes prompted by the Soviet period, the Turkmen have remained very well known for their horses, the Akhal-Teke desert horse and also for their unique and beautiful jewelry traditions.
