Amazing vintage Hazara pendant PAIR. About 4.5 inches from top to bottom of pendants (including bales but not rings), and about 3 inches wide. Mixed metals are mostly silvery with an unpolished finish. This pair of Hazaragi pendants is finely detailed with incised design of bird heads, scrolled wire, fine chains and hollow dangles. Rings at top and sides for attaching. This "pair" is ever so slightly mismatched in shape and incised design. Shape is most noticeable from the back of the pendants. All other details seem to be the same. Please look at the photos closely.
The Hazara people are native to the mountainous region of Hazarajat in central Afghanistan, although there are some living in areas of Pakistan and Iran. Most Hazara have adopted the cultures of the cities where they live, but are traditionally highland farmers and in the Hazarajat have retained their own customs and traditions which are more closely related to those of Central Asia.
