Vintage silver ring from the 1960s or 1970s, made in India.
Size: 7 US
Materials: Silver, about 80% to 90%, natural stone
Stone Shape: Oval
Stone looks like a type of quartz, but I a not a stone expert and it could be another type.
This vintage ring is probably Indian, although the actual province is unknown to me. Silver band and setting with a quartz type stone cabochon. Fairly simple design with clean lines. A few small dings in the band. This piece would make a nice addition to a stack of large rings for dancing. US size 7. Tribal silver, about 80-90%. Natural color stone set in silver. A nice little piece to grace your fingers for an excellent price!
The silver tradition on the subcontinent is a long one, and by the 60s and 70s India was already producing a lot of jewelry for export and the tourist trade. From it's design, this piece looks like it may have been produced for export. India still produces a large volume of silver jewelry in both traditional and modern
