Vintage nomadic necklace with with long elaborate dangles and five colorful poms.  These old long pendants end in large round flat metal disks that have a loud jangle.  The addition of hollow leaf-shaped dangles makes it that much jingly-er!  Hand worked band in rolled black fabric.   As noted this piece is an authentic tribal piece and shows some wear and tribal dust.

Band is about 19 inches long from button to loop.  The extra long dangles are 6 inches long or more.  Closes with button and loop or if you need it to be much shorter, can be tied.   These old necklaces are so very tribal!  Original stringing on cord has been worn in country as part of a traditional costume.

The story of Kuchi jewelry, like all tribal jewelry, is rich with influences from many cultures.  These beautiful pieces with colorful glass jewels and jingling bells originally came from the nomadic Pashtoon tribes that wandered the border areas of Afghanistan and Pakistan, along ancient routes between the seasons, moving down from the mountains in the winter and back to their homes in the summer. The word Kuchi itself is derived from a Persian word meaning migration, in relation to nomads or gypsies, and does not describe a particular group or people, but rather a state of being.
