Pair of vintage Afghani tribal beaded medallions called "gul". I never seem to run out of uses for these classic beadwork items. Can be used anywhere on tribal dance costuming and accessories, and even on jewelry. Easy to sew to any project. Keep extras on hand for instant tribal detail in an emergency!
About 2.75 inches across
Small mirrors in the center
"Fluffy" beadwork edges
1/2 inch thick
Layered fabric and cardboard base
Tribally used item
These old beaded pieces have been removed from clothing or other decorative tribal items. Because these pieces are handmade, there may be some slight variation in size, shape or pattern. Medallions are made from glass seed beads and various base materials. This pair is 2.75 inches across and built on a layered fabric and cardboard base.
Afghani beadwork is some of the finest in the world, often with intricate mathematical patterns. (Studies have been done on the mathematics of Kuchi beadwork - ask me about it!) Please be aware that these pieces have been used and reused, often many times, and will show wear in places. Beadwork can often be repaired simply by running a bit of beading floss through the beads and knotting it securely. If you have questions about our beadwork, please contact us at info @ redcamel.net.
