Kuchi Afghani tribal beadwork panel. Beaded panels add a touch of authenticity to tribal dance costuming with their bright colors. Each is as unique and different as a work of art!
Length: 14 inches
Width: 4 inches
Layers: Beading, plastic sheet, fabric
Tribally used item.
These beaded pieces have been removed from old clothing or other decorative tribal items. Because these pieces are handmade, there may be some slight variation in size, shape or pattern. This panel is 14 inches long and 4 inches wide. Beadwork is layered on top of plastic sheeting and backed with trade cloth. There is a round mirror piece on each end surrounded by "fluffly" type raised beadwork
Afghani beadwork is made from glass seed beads and a backing material that can include a cardboard or plastic disc covered in fabric or a backing of felt, which can sometimes be made from animal hair. Backing material may be quite thick or stiff, or can be thin and flexible.
Afghani beadwork is some of the finest in the world, often with intricate mathematical patterns. (Studies have been done on the mathematics of Kuchi beadwork - ask me about it!) Please be aware that these pieces have been used and reused, often many times, and will show wear in places. Beadwork can often be repaired simply by running a bit of beading floss through the beads and knotting it securely. If you have questions about our beadwork, please contact us at info @ redcamel.net.
