Four tribal tassel caps for DIY dance costuming.  These pieces are often seen on the tops of Turkoman hats but work very well as tassel tops for dance costuming, hollow dangles on one of them adding a bit of a jingle as well.  Cap with dangles is 4.5 inches long from top tube to bottom of dangles.  Caps without dangles are about 2 inches long.  All four are 1.75 to 2 inches inches wide.  Mixed metals are silvery to slightly brassy in color and are unpolished.  You will receive the exact pieces shown in the photos on this page.

The Turkoman are an ethnic group native to Central Asia, primarily the Turkmen nation state of Turkmenistan. Smaller communities are also found in Iran, Afghanistan, North Caucasus (Stavropol Krai), and northern Pakistan.  The major Turkmen tribes are Teke, Yomut, Ersari, Chowdur and Saryk. The most numerous are the Teke.  The Turkmen lifestyle was heavily invested in horsemanship and horse-breeding.  In spite of changes prompted by the Soviet period, the Turkmen have remained very well known for their horses, the Akhal-Teke desert horse and also for their unique and beautiful jewelry traditions.
